Agenda for day 3 - taking the morning train for Vienna.
Can you tell which platform is the train to Vienna?
Quick lunch to be have on the train
Off we go
Arriving Wien Westbahnhof train station in Vienna in just three hours
The train station is also connected to the U3 and U6 line of U Bahn,
Vienna's subway.
There is no gate or turnstile to get into the subway, just this little machine that stamps your ticket. So it is an honest system but there is a hefty fine if you are caught not paying
A little mishap
with my lodging in Vienna. The B&B I originally booked has to be shut down
due to the untimely death of the owner, just two days before I am due to check
in and I am already on the road. After some frantic phone calls I managed to
find a replacement and the agency is willing to make up the difference. Given I
only have 36 hours the replacement isn't too bad
Arriving my hotel in Vienna, literally seconds away from the subway station
Next to the hotel is a supermarket, however it only opens till 8 p.m
My choice for first
stop of Vienna is purely circumstantial because the Kunsthistorisches Museum is
the only major attraction that stays open till 9:00 p.m. on the day of my
arrival
The magnificent external of Kunsthistorisches Museum
The equally magnificent internal of Kunsthistorisches Museum

A big plus of the museum is that it provides seats for you while enjoying the art
Fabergé eggs - this is a great exhibition but unfortunately no camera allowed
A room full of heads
A special exhibit in museum? Wait till you turn it over...
A special exhibit? I guess even museums are not immune to bugs
Kosu Restaurant, the answer to my sudden craving for sushi after the museum visit
Herzlich willkommen im Kosu / Warm Welcome to Kosu
Bento Box
The after-meal snack might come in a dim sum container but these are actually rice krispies
